NBA 2K is teasing a College Basketball Game as soon as EA Sports announced their return.
EA Sports and 2K both have long-standing College Basketball video game franchises; however, both have been dormant for more than a decade now. The last college basketball game from 2K was College Hoops 2K8, which was released in 2007. The last college basketball-based game from EA Sports was NCAA Basketball 10, which was released in 2009. It seems both of these franchises may be brought back to life soon.
2K Might Have Their Own College Basketball Game in the Works
The official NBA 2K account on X (formerly Twitter) was recently tagged by a fan stating, “2K should be making the college basketball game”. Within hours, 2K replied to the tweet, saying “The campus has been quiet for too long”, instantly sparking rumours about another college basketball game from the hands of NBA 2K to rival the one from EA.
EA’s announcement about college basketball was more direct and straightforward. Their post clearly stated, “Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back,” with the hashtag #CBB (College Basketball). Multiple sources have informed Insider Gaming that both EA Sports and 2K have engaged in numerous discussions about developing a college basketball game. While the exact status of the negotiations is unclear, both groups have been “pushing heavily” for it.
In other news, the NBA and 2K have recently confirmed a new multi-year global partnership. Additionally, here’s the expected release window for the new EA Sports College Basketball game.
