The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered’s new free update allows you to experience the game like never before, introducing a Chronological story mode.
The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered’s new free update is available for download today, allowing players to experience the game’s events chronologically for the first time. The game has always had a non-linear narrative, where “Ellie and Abby’s motivations, realisations, and emotional stakes unfold across myriad flashbacks and present-day storylines”. With the chronological story mode, the developers aim to provide players with a deeper insight into Part 2’s narrative.
The Last of Us Part 2 Introduces Chronological Story Mode
Through The Last of Us Part 2’s Chronological Story mode, players will be able to see things like “how Ellie being gifted a guitar flows so neatly into her learning to play”. Players will also experience “fascinating parallels between Ellie and Abby’s crisscrossing journeys”, making players realise how they were so close to each other during their individual journeys and how their actions impacted both characters. Moreover, players will also be able to hunt for fresh trophies with the new narrative experience.
Uncharted 4 Skins Are Being Introduced to The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return Mode

Apart from the chronological story mode, the new free update introduces even more bonuses for The Last of Us Part 2, including Uncharted 4 costumes. As the developers celebrate Naughty Dog’s 40th anniversary this year, they wanted to do something special. After the free update, players will be able to dress Joel as Nathan Drake and Tommy as Sam Drake in TLOU 2: No Return.
In other news, Neil Druckmann has stepped away from The Last of Us HBO Show. Additionally, Season 3 will be shown from Abby’s perspective.
