Earlier this year, the Gamescom team revealed that Nintendo would be partnering up with the brand for Gamescom 2025, taking place in August. That was the opener for the first wave, unveiled today by the team in a marketing email.
It was confirmed that Nintendo, Niantic, Ubisoft, Wargaming, Team 17, Astragon, and Capcom will be appearing at Gamescom 2025, and as the team said, that’s ‘just the beginning’.
Big Things Ahead
Last year’s Gamescom event in Cologne pulled in a record high number of exhibitors – some 1,400 in total. It was a 15% increase over the 2023 edition of Gamescom, and this year, things are set to be bigger than ever. It all kicks off with the Opening Night Live ceremony on August 19, presented in Cologne by Geoff Keighley.
In a recent marketing email, Gamescom’s team revealed an opening slew of partners appearing at the event in August:
- Nintendo
- Niantic
- Ubisoft
- Wargaming
- Team 17
- Astragon
- Capcom
An event arena lineup was also teased. It was revealed that as the week unravels, The Witcher will appear live in concert, metal band Sabaton will host a performance, and the Prime League Offline Final will play out alongside Gamescom.
In April, it was confirmed that the city of Cologne had expanded a landmark partnership with the Gamescom organisers. Gamescom isn’t just about the Koelnmesse facility, but the wider city, which becomes a living, breathing hub for hundreds of thousands of gamers every August.
Now that E3 has died a death, Gamescom is officially the most popular and ambitious gaming expo in the world.
