At Summer Game Fest 2025, Cold Symmetry announced Mortal Shell 2, a sequel to the cult-classic action RPG title.
Mortal Shell is an indie take on the iconic Soulslike experience. The small project, launched in 2020, successfully captured the dark and grotesque world that Souls fans know and love. The combat is just as unforgiving as you would expect, and a sequel is coming soon.
Let’s jump right into everything you need to know.
Mortal Shell 2 Announcement Trailer Revealed
The Mortal Shell 2 reveal trailer has a similar aesthetic to the first game and is accompanied by a heavy metal soundtrack that perfectly fits the gory combat. We got our first look at a few of the bosses, enemies, and weapons at your disposal.
Mortal Shell 2 is a standalone sequel and does not follow the events of the first game, but features the same fast-paced and high-stakes combat.
It’s challenging to get a feel for the gameplay because most of the clips shown were cinematic. However, the finishing moves and new arsenal weapons give fans a lot to be excited about.
The game is scheduled to launch a beta in 2026 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
In other gaming news, new Death Stranding 2 footage was shown at Summer Game Fest, PlayStation’s State of Play broke viewership records, and Borderlands is being review-bombed.
