Dune: Awakening has gotten off to a flying start on Steam with some eye-catching numbers, despite it still being a few days until the full release.
The Funcom title will initially launch exclusively on PC, with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions planned for a later release, but the limitations on just one platform haven’t hindered the initial wave.
Data from SteamDB shows a concurrent players peak of just shy of 94,000, as spotted by IGN, but the most impressive aspect of these numbers is that they came from a Thursday evening on the first day of early access.
For obvious reasons, the highest player counts usually occur over a weekend, so that number should increase further in the days ahead, and could also spike when Dune: Awakening fully releases on June 10.
The player base currently consists of those willing to splash out on the $69.99 Deluxe Edition or the $89.99 Ultimate Edition, which offers five days of early access, but plenty more will be holding out for the official release.

How do the Dune: Awakening Numbers Compare to Other Titles?
Dune: Awakening’s concurrent players on the first day came in strong compared to other titles, sitting 15th on the list for highest concurrent players within the last 24 hours.
The numbers come in just a few hundred shy of Grand Theft Auto 5, but ahead of the likes of Call of Duty, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Rainbox Six Siege.
In terms of games in the survival genre, Dune: Awakening’s early numbers fall well adrift of PUBG and Rust, but above the likes of DayZ, Once Human, and Ark: Survival Evolved.
The early signs certainly suggest Dune: Awakening will be popular, so don’t be surprised if these numbers shoot up further in the coming days.
