Romeo Is A Deadman isn’t shying away from the threat that Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date poses to other games, stating a firm release date has been avoided to “steer clear of that one game’s release date.”
Revealed to the world during Sony’s State of Play Showcase, Romeo Is A Deadman from Grasshopper Manufacture is jam-packed with gore and violence, with a tentative 2026 release window announced.
The action caught the eye, with a graphic approach that appeals to those who are seeking unfiltered, bloody violence, but the fact that there isn’t a concrete release date for the title is deliberate.
Romeo Is A Deadman CEO Makes GTA 6 Threat Clear

As reported by IGN, Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda came clean on the specifics behind the reasons for the lack of a firm release date, and, while he didn’t mention GTA 6 specifically, it was clear what he was referring to.
Asked why Romeo Is A Deadman doesn’t have a firm release window, Suda said it was “kinda obvious” and was down to the fact “every publisher wants to make sure to steer clear of That One Game’s release date.”
The potential of going toe-to-toe with GTA 6 was something that is “way too scary” for Suda to consider, and it’s unlikely he’s the only one in the industry feeling this way.
GTA 6 is slated for release on May 26, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC launch presumably planned for the future.
