Switch 2 Players Hit With Launch Issues as Mario Kart World Won’t Download

The Switch 2 console releases globally today, but there seems to be a hiccup for those looking to jump into Mario Kart World immediately, as the game won’t download.

Mario Kart World is the stand-out launch title for the Switch 2, and the first new entry in the series for over a decade, but problems are occurring for those lucky enough to have the console in hand.

‘Mario Kart World Won’t Download’ has been a major Google search time worldwide, with players also taking to Reddit to complain about the issue and search for solutions.

Players attempting to install Mario Kart World have been hit with Error Code: 2813-0171, informing them the product hasn’t been released yet—despite the launch time having passed.

From the information being reported by those encountering problems, it appears the Mario Kart World download issues are tied to the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundles.

There appears to be two types of these bundles, with the issues occurring for those who purchased a Switch 2 with a Mario Kart World graphic on the box, as those with stickers on the box are not facing problems.

This seems to be due to the sticker version including a card with a download code, whereas the box graphic version appears to have the game automatically redeemed.

In the United States, those who purchased from BestBuy seem to have no issues, while those who secured their console from GameStop have faced problems. However, users in New Zealand have also reported issues.
