The Wylder is the everyman of Elden Ring Nightreign, offering a balanced melee fighter class who can also dabble in some magic spells. Here’s the best Wylder build you can make right now.
In many ways, the Wylder is the default and easiest class to use in Elden Ring Nightreign. Not only do they have decent offensive capabilities in close combat, but their armor also makes them tough to kill without becoming a tank. The Wylder can also use Incantations to buff themselves and allies, or harm enemies, making them much more than just a class that hacks and slashes.
If you’re going to be taking on some of the hardest bosses Nightreign has to offer, then you’ll want the best setup possible. So here’s the best Wylder build in Elden Ring Nightreign.
What’s The Best Wylder Build in Elden Ring Nightreign?

As of right now, the best Wylder build in Elden Ring Nightreign is the Holy Knight — which is a throwback to some classic Demon’s/Dark Souls and Elden Ring builds.
The Holy Knight build leans into the classic sword and shield setup of the Wylder, but as the class is a jack of all trades and a master of none, it involves sprinkling a few Incantations into the mix. You see, the main mistake many Souls players make with melee characters is not putting their FP (blue bar) to good use, so for this build, we’re going to avoid this common pitfall.
Turning the vanilla Wylder into a Holy Knight adds a few more tools to the character’s toolbox, and as of right now, it is the most effective way to use the class. Keep in mind, this all may change in future updates.
Best Relics to Equip Before an Expedition
As most weapons vanish at the end of an Expedition, Relics are the only real way to permanently progress in Elden Ring Nightreign. Relics can be used and equipped time and time again and can offer some helpful buffs to your character. For example, the Besmirched Frame helps boost both melee damage and Faith, buffing Incantations, too.
However, you can only have 3 Relics equipped at once. So, for the Holy Knight Wylder, we’re going to aim to unlock and use the following Relics:
| Relic | Passives |
|---|---|
| Besmirched Frame | Taking attacks improves attack power. Faith +3. |
| Silver Tear | Art gauge greatly filled when ability is activated. Ultimate Art Gauge +3. Arcane +3. |
| Slate Whetstone | Follow-up attacks possible when using Character Skill (greatsword only). Physical Attack Up. |
| The Wylder’s Earring | Art activation spreads fire in area. +1 additional Wylder Skill use. Stamina recovers with each successful attack. |
| Night of The Beast | Stamina recovers with each successful attack +1. Starting armament deals fire. |
Don’t panic if it takes a while to unlock these Talismans; just make do with the ones you have until you have access to these, then prioritize them based on what suits your needs.
Best Weapons to Find For The Best Wylder Build

Swords like the Blasphemous Blade or the Sword of Milos are both excellent options for the Wylder.
Apart from the Wylder’s starting sword and shield, all weapons you find are completely random in Elden Ring Nightreign, so the below items are ones you should keep an eye out for the most and prioritize if you see them.
As the Wylder is most effective with a greatsword, we’ll make our recommendations for those. While any shield is an upgrade on the character’s starting buckler, we’ll also suggest some that are more ideal, like the Erdtree Greatshield, which offers a built-in Incantation.
We’ll also recommend finding and using any Sacred Seals you come across, so you’ve got access to Incantations. That being said, the best ones to look out for like the Dragon Communion Seal or the Frenzied Flame Seal.
| Weapon | Weapon Type | Skill/Passive |
|---|---|---|
| Blasphemous Blade | Greatsword | Provides Taker’s Flame spell. Heals the player on killing enemies. |
| Sword of Milos | Greatsword | Shriek of Milos spell. Bleed damage (47). |
| Dark Moon Greatsword | Greatsword | Frostbite damage (38). Lowers enemy magic defense. |
| Dragon Communion Seal | Sacred Seal | Dragon Communion Incantations. |
| Frenzied Flame Seal | Sacred Seal | Frenzied Flame Incantations. |
| Marred Leather Shield | Shield | Bleed damage (30) |
| Ant’s Skull Plate | Shield | Shield Bash. Poison Damage (84) |
| Erdtree Greatshield | Shield | Golden Retaliation Incantation |
Any combination of these will work, as the chances of finding any particular blend of them while out on Expeditions are slim to none.
Best Talismans to Find For The Best Wylder Build
Like weapons, Talismans also need to be found while out on an Expedition and will reset once it’s over. These offer passive buffs that stack with your Relics for best results. For example, the Faithful Canvas Talisman’s Incantation buff can be used alongside any others.
Keep an eye out for and prioritize the following Talismans when using the Holy Knight build for the Wylder.
| Talisman | Passive |
|---|---|
| Blessed Dew Talisman | Constant HP recovery. |
| Faithful’s Canvas Talisman | Buffs Incantations |
| Ancestral Spirit’s Horn | Killing enemies restores FP. |
| Dragon Crest Shield | Improves defense against physical damage by 15%. |
| Green Turtle Talisman | Faster stamina recovery. |
You can equip any other useful Talismans you find before these, just make sure these are the ones you use if and when you find them.
