MediEvil is considered a cult classic by many. So much so, the action-platforming title got a remake in 2019. While the second game has yet to receive the same treatment, it’s been revealed by a writer and producer in the movie industry that a MediEvil movie nearly happened, and Tenacious D would’ve been involved.
It’s hard to convey the impact MediEvil had on me as a kid. Its camera was horrible, the gameplay wasn’t amazing, and it was a bit janky. Yet, it’s nostalgia personified for me. So to learn that PlayStation‘s MediEvil movie was planned is heartbreaking.
Tenacious D Nearly Teamed With Sony & PlayStation For MediEvil Movie

Writer and producer Ben Mekler’s LinkedIn profile says he’s been in the TV and movie industry for nearly 15 years. It’s an incredible achievement, but he clearly also has a passion for gaming.
According to Mekler: “We came very close to turning one of my favorite video games, MediEvil, into an animated movie with original songs by Tenacious D.“
Mekler hasn’t elaborated on how close the project was, when this was, or how Tenacious D was asked to be part of the project. But in all likelihood, this was probably very close to fruition and is surely heartbreaking news for all the Sir Daniel Fortesque fans out there.
