Phasmophobia Movie Announced From Same Studio Behind Five Nights at Freddy’s

An official Phasmophobia movie has been announced, produced by Blumhouse—who are behind horror titles like M3GAN, The Black Phone, and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Phasmophobia was an instant hit upon release in 2020, achieving over 23 million sales in the years since, and now the franchise will make the jump to the big screen, following the likes of Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Last of Us in receiving mainstream adaptations.

No release date for the movie has been announced, and it is likely still a few years away. However, Daniel Knight, Kinetic Games’ director and Phasmophobia’s lead developer, describes the announcement as a “big moment for the whole Kinetic team” and as the “start of something really exciting.”

The announcement “marks an incredible new chapter for the game,” with further details set to be revealed as the project develops.

The partnership with Blumhouse puts Phasmophobia under the helm of a studio with an impressive resume in the horror scene, while Atomic Monster are also attached to the film.

Atomic Monster is another big player in the horror movie stream, pushing the likes of Annabelle, The Nun, and The Conjuring franchise into the limelight, all of which is encouraging to fans of the Phasmophobia franchise.

What Else is Coming to Phasmophobia This Year?

It’s set to be a big year for Phasmophobia, with the fiercely anticipated Chronicle update launching June 24, with new media items to collect, including using the new Sound Recorder, and a rework of the Grafton Farmhouse location.

More details on the Chronicle update will be revealed closer to release date, which is now just a few weeks away.

Beyond that, a player character overhaul, a new map, and seasonal events for Halloween and the holiday season were revealed in the Phasmophobia 2025 roadmap in February.
