Atomfall’s first major expansion, dubbed ‘Wicked Isle’, will be released worldwide on June 3. It arrives a little more than two months after the game hit the market, pulling in positive reviews and showing how diverse Rebellion’s skillset is when it comes to making games.
Wicked Isle adds a new location, a fresh storyline to follow, and some new weapons, skills, and items. It also introduces alternate endings for the core game.
Descent into Madness
Rebellion recently released a one-minute trailer for the Wicked Isle expansion, revealing the dark and dangerous content of the first major piece of DLC to hit Atomfall. In Wicked Isle, players travel to the island of Midsummer, intent on clashing with pirate bandits and terrifying, infected druid enemies.
Rebellion wrote about the expansion:
Drawing on the folk horror elements of the game for inspiration, the story expansion is set on Midsummer Island. To cross to the island players must talk to the boat-keeper who can be found on the jetty in Wyndham Village. He will give you information about the island as well as your first Lead.
Here’s the short trailer that introduces Wicked Isle:
Atomfall’s Head of Design said:
You are going to meet new enemy factions including pirate bandits and infected druids. To help you survive there are new weapons to be found on the island including a devastating Blunderbuss shotgun, a new bow, cutlass, daggers and the Beekeeper’s Staff.
You will also be able to acquire new skills which will aid you on your quest as well as an upgraded metal detector which will enable you find even more loot caches.
The DLC will be available on June 3 for anyone with the Deluxe Edition or the Deluxe Upgrade Pack. If you don’t have these versions of the game, you’ll need to pay $19.99 / £14.99 to obtain Wicked Isle separately.
