Death Stranding 2 is at the forefront of Hideo Kojima’s mind right now. The long-awaited sequel is one of 2025’s biggest games, but once it’s released, it could be one of the final pieces of media we see his name attached to for a long time.
Hideo Kojima has been in the headlines quite a lot recently. He’s already made the shocking admission that he’s got a USB stick full of ideas, so he can effectively keep making games after he passes. The video game director also revealed to the community the impact GTA 6 has had on release dates.
Now, Kojima has pulled back the curtain on his future and his next game.
Hideo Kojima Believes Physint is “Five or Six Years” Away

In an interview with Le Film Français, through VGC, Kojima addressed Physint—a new espionage game announced in 2024—and says it’s many years away after Death Stranding 2.
“Besides Death Stranding 2, there is Physint in development. That will take me another five or six years. Maybe after that, I could finally decide to tackle a film. I grew up with cinema. Directing would be a kind of homage to it. Besides, I’m getting older, and I would prefer to do it while still young,” he told Le Film Français.
We can take multiple things from this: Physint is a long way from completion, and once it’s done, it could be a while before Kojima tackles another video game.
OD is another game Kojima is working on—for Microsoft. This is likely coming before Physint, so his next game should release before 2030 at least. Kojima undoubtedly has his hands full and is dipping his toes into many different waters. We don’t know much about Physint, so once Death Stranding 2 releases, we might get a better idea of what the legendary director has in store for us.
