Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 may not be coming until May 2026, but Rockstar Games has given fans more details about the latest game in the popular franchise.
In addition to the game’s second trailer, the studio has released the basic plot details for GTA 6.
“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” the description reads. “But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to release May 26, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game was originally planned for a Fall 2025 release, but was recently delayed to allow Rockstar Games more time to polish it up and get things right. It was a move that Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick says comes with the full support of its parent company.
