Take-Two has released its response to Friday’s announcement that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 was being delayed to May 26, 2026.
In a statement released on Take-Two’s investor relations website, CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company supports Rockstar’s decision to make sure the game is as polished as it needs to be before launch.
“We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to bea groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations,” Zelnick said. “While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders.”
In addition to his statement on the delay, the company says it still expects to “achieve sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.”

I don’t mind games getting delayed if they need more time to make the game run smoother or look better. But Strauss knew this game was getting delayed but still wanted to come out and say no delays for it to keep stocks high. A delay this big was planned a couple of months ago. It might have started off with a six-month delay in January this year and now it’s a 12-month delay. I just hope this doesn’t mean PC version gets a 12 month delay on top of this because why can’t you release it at the same time. GTA is the only game I can think of now where you need to wait longer than a year sometimes for it to be on PC.
