The Steam Deck is a beast. A powerhouse. Valve‘s extensive catalog of games and world-renowned storefront weren’t enough for the company, which is why it made a kickass console. But, as a consumer, when you only own one brand, you can’t help but peek over the wall to see what you’re missing out on.
A new app makes it so that if you want to play certain PlayStation games on your Steam Deck, you can…for a price.
Steam Deck Unofficial App Lets You Play PS5 Games
Asobi: Remote Play is a new, unofficial third-party app that lets you enjoy select PlayStation games on Steam Deck, without owning PS hardware.
You don’t need a PS5 console, which is great, considering the price increases.

There are two requirements you need to tick off: You need a valid PS Plus Premium Membership and a PSN account.
Once you have these, you can download Asobi: Remote Play. A public playtest began on August 7, and the app has a litany of features, per its Steam page:
- Connect to your own PS4 or PS5 console for remote streaming
- Sync app settings and console profiles across your devices
- Multiple local profiles for different users or setups
- 1080p / 30 fps SDR streaming
- Automatic bitrate adjustment based on your network
- Internet remote streaming support
- Console registration flow for supported consoles
- Optional cloud-streaming compatibility where available (“PlayStation Plus Premium subscription required for cloud streaming”)
There are a ton of other extras which require: ‘A single in-app purchase.’
- Full controller support
- HDR video support
- 1080p / 60 fps streaming
- Upscaling up to 4K on supported displays
- Up to 120 fps output on supported monitors
- Low-latency modes
- Manual bitrate control
- Experimental FEC mode for unstable Wi-Fi networks
- Audio delay and behavior settings
- Controller haptics
- Zoom & Pan for a full-screen experience
- On-screen lightbar-style status indicator
- On-device gyro input support
- On-device haptic feedback
There are obvious question marks surrounding the app and its sustainability, especially if people are playing PlayStation games that would ordinarily require PS devices.
