It appears that releasing one game on Xbox Game Pass sees partners want to release more on the service. At least, that’s what the head of ID@Xbox Chris Charla told Eurogamer during a recent interview.
While talking about the state of Xbox Game Pass, Charla said that the “majority of partners who’ve had a game in Game Pass want to bring their future titles to the service.”
“As a result, we’ve signed deals with more than 150 partners to expand the catalogue,” Charla told the outlet. “We continue to engage with hundreds of partners each year to review upcoming titles.”
He added that in 2024, the team signed over 50 companies to their first Game Pass deals. Now, with the 150 signed deals, it’s become their “largest investment in Game Pass to date.”
“[We] remain focused on delivering the most exciting and diverse catalogue in gaming,” Charla said.
The Debate Around Xbox Game Pass
While many like the idea of paying a single price to try out and play a number of new games you may not have otherwise played, there are plenty of others who doubt the longevity of the service.
One such person against it is former PlayStation head Shawn Layden, who said Game Pass makes developers “wage slaves”. He believes that Game Pass isn’t “creating value” and that it doesn’t inspire developers.
No matter the doubters, it appears Game Pass is something Microsoft and Xbox will continue to push forward as they continue to increase their revenues from it.
