Microsoft is adding over 50 classic Activision games to Xbox Game Pass. The company announced on Wednesday the addition of “Retro Classics with Game Pass”, a collaborative effort between Xbox and Antstream Arcade.
This collection will bring classic Activision titles to console, PCs, and cloud gaming with features such as the ability to save your progress. Players will be able to access the Retro Classics library by installing the feature through the Xbox App.
Games featured in the first launch of titles include Grand Prix, Commando, Mech Warrior 2: 31st Century Combat, and Pitfall.
“This initiative is a step in our commitment to game preservation and backwards compatibility, allowing players to experience many timeless games on modern devices,” Microsoft said.
“Additionally, players can take on friends, rivals, or the entire world with unique challenges. For the achievement hunters, there are some great new ones to collect, and for newer players, the ability to save and reload your progress, a first for many classic titles.”
More games are scheduled to be added to the collection, with Xbox and Antstream Arcade planning for “more than 100+ titles” from Activision and Blizzard to be added over time. Details on those titles will come at a later date with games added on a monthly basis.
Retro Classics is available for all Game Pass membership tiers in most regions. In Japan, specifically, it will be available for Game Pass Standard, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate members.
