Xbox has announced that backward compatibility is coming to PC.
In a post on Tuesday morning, Xbox revealed the new feature that will make it “easier to play classic XBOX games from the past across PC and handhelds.”
Starts With Four Games
To start the process, Xbox is rolling out the feature in early release with four original Xbox games. Starting today, July 22, BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fusion Frenzy are all a part of backward compatibility for PC.
“Your library is more than just a collection of games,” Xbox VP of Next Generation Jason Ronald said. “It is your personal history of epic stories and treasured memories from the past. And as players, we don’t want to leave our gaming legacy behind even as technology continues to evolve and advance. We expect our library of games to move forward with us and to be able to play them in entirely new ways.”
He added that this step is “the beginning of a broader effort to preserve XBOX games from the past and bring them to PC over time.”
Each of the four games is now available to buy on PC and is included with all Xbox Game Pass plans.
More Than Just The Games
In addition to the games, Xbox has added new features aimed at enhancing your experience.
“Players can customize graphics settings, including up to 4x resolution upscaling, VSync support, Fullscreen and Windowed display modes, anisotropic filtering, enhanced anti-aliasing, and more,” Ronald said. “These games also include customizable language and audio settings.”
More games and games will be added in the future, including achievements for select original Xbox games.
