Gears of War: E-Day and the upcoming Street Fighter film had a minor presence at the most recent WWE spectacle, WWE SummerSlam. The first night of the annual August pay-per-view took place on August 1.
Gears of War: E-Day was a featured sponsor of the event, with its logo being front and center on the ring mat all night long. Also, part of the set featured references to the game for one match of the evening. That match would see LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, and Royce Keys defeat The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and Jacob Fatu.
The Gears of War references were not the only video game presence during WWE SummerSlam Saturday.

Cody Rhodes Brings Street Fighter’s Guile to the WWE Universe
The WWE Championship Match that took place at SummerSlam saw Cody Rhodes challenge CM Punk for one of the top prizes in the company. Cody is playing Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter film and decided to bring a little bit of the flair from the Capcom staple into his match.
Cody’s entrance would see a mock-up of the Street Fighter character selection screen, and the mask he wore to the ring was fitted with Guile’s hairstyle. Unfortunately for Cody, it wasn’t enough to see him defeat the WWE 2K26 cover star and regain the championship, as he would ultimately lose the match after Randy Orton returned to interfere in the bout. Still, Cody is gearing up for the film’s release this October.
WWE SummerSlam will conclude tonight. There is a possibility that more references to these games will appear. Roman Reigns, who is slated to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins in the headlining match of SummerSlam Sunday, is also in the upcoming Street Fighter film. He will be playing Akuma in the movie that releases on October 16.
