WWE Sponsorship Could Hint at Gears of War: E-Day Launch

Gears of War: E-Day is sponsoring a major professional wrestling event in September. While nothing is certain, this could provide a hint at the game’s release window.

During WWE Backlash on May 9, it was announced that AAA Triplemania, the biggest show of the year for WWE’s Lucha Libre promotion in Mexico, would be taking place on September 11 and September 13. Additionally, it was announced that Gears of War: E-Day would be a presenting sponsor of the events. Again, this isn’t a definitive sign that the game will be available by the time the event goes on the air in September, but in the past, WWE would only have video game sponsors for events releasing around the time of the event.

This is also not the first time WWE has partnered up with Gears of War. Kofi Kingston, Big E Langston, and Xavier Woods, collectively known as The New Day, were playable characters in Gears of War 5. WWE has also partnered with Fortnite and other video games in the past.

Upcoming Gears of War: E-Day Showcase to Reveal 30 Minutes of New Footage

While there is no definitive release date for the next Gears of War game, a presentation focused on it is scheduled for June. Since 2024, no significant gameplay footage has been revealed. The game was initially announced at the 2024 Xbox Showcase in June, where only a cinematic trailer was shown. The upcoming presentation will be held on June 7, immediately following an Xbox showcase. It was recently revealed that the event would present about 30 minutes of new footage.

“I’ll say that we’ve got the Gears Direct coming, and after seeing that, we’ve probably got like a full 30 minutes, which is really great. I don’t know. I just love everybody in that studio, the work they’re doing. I’m excited about the game, and we’re going to have a fantastic, full 30 minutes of stuff to see,” Xbox CCO Matt Booty proclaimed in a recent interview.

Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available. For more WWE video game-related news, check out the locker codes for the month of May in WWE 2K26.
