Blizzard says World of Warcraft: Forever set the series’ launch record for peak concurrent players and returning players after its November 4, 2026 debut. The company officially announced the milestones on social media.
Congratulations everyone, you made HISTORY! WoW: Forever has achieved:
- The biggest launch in WoW history by peak concurrent players
- The highest number of returning players in WoW history
This is all because of you, the players. From all of us, THANK YOU!
Blizzard first announced World of Warcraft Forever at BlizzCon 2026. The game is intended to be as close to the original vanilla WoW as possible. That content pipeline includes new zones, more than 1,000 new quests, improved PvP, more dungeons, fresh professions and reputations to grind, updated visuals, and more. It also adds a new race for players to explore and a level cap of 60.

Furthermore, World of Warcraft Executive Producer & Vice President for World of Warcraft Holly Longdale commented on the milestones. She thanked players for their support and praised the new 15-year benchmark for WoW players.
We are seeing the most NEW players for a WoW launch in 15 YEARS!
Welcome all! We’re so happy you’re here experiencing Azeroth for the first time alongside those of us playing it for the first time…AGAIN
At BlizzCon, Blizzard and Netflix also announced an agreement to bring adaptations of Diablo and Overwatch to the platform. Learn more about that here. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor all things World of Warcraft and report any updates as new information becomes available.
