Windrose Roadmap Release Announced, Next Major Update ‘Ashlands’ Will Take Six Months

Kraken Express and PocketPair must be loving the start to life on the open sea that Windrose has enjoyed. Hundreds of thousands of players are logging in daily, and over a million copies have been sold. The wait for the next update will be long, and it’s been detailed, along with roadmap plans.

Windrose quickly hit 500,000 players, achieving positive reviews on the way to reaching this. A breakthrough of Windrose selling 1 million copies was achieved a couple of days later. Needless to say, and excuse the pun, but the wind is in the game’s sails.

If you’re looking forward to the next significant content drop, you might want to go treasure hunting to kill some time—a lot of it.

Next Major Windrose Update 6 Months Away

The developer greeted Windrose players with a hearty community update on Steam.

A toast was made to the hundreds of thousands constantly playing Windrose concurrently. There were also details on the next minor update, including ‘Over 40 new building pieces to fill some gaps and inconsistencies,’ and ‘over 50 fixes and QoL changes.’

To the matter of the game’s story and expanding the game further:

‘After we’re done with the fixes described above, we plan to fully switch to the next big content update, which will introduce the next biome called Ashlands.’

We don’t know too much about Ashlands just yet, but key details about the content were outlined:

‘The scope of what we want to do is rather ambitious, so our best bet right now this update will take at least 6 months to deliver. This might sound like a long time, but we believe it will allow us to roll out an exciting and meaningful expansion to the game of appropriate quality. In other words, we will work very hard so it’s worth the wait.’

This might be a daunting wait, but it’s not like there’s not much to do in Windrose—have you got the Rapier Of A Thousand Cuts yet?

Something that might cheer you up is that the team is working diligently on the roadmap. It will feature many developer and player feedback requests, and you should ‘Expect more information to come in a month or two.’

Windrose is proving to be a heck of a swashbuckling success. Remember, it is in early access, so content won’t always flow like the finest wine or grog. Let us know what you think about this news via the Insider Gaming Discord.
