It’s a hugely subjective debate until the point the cover athlete is confirmed, and that discussion is put on lock. Many feel that Erling Haaland deserves a spot on the cover, given his recent performance, his dedication to the sport, and his rapidly growing profile as a player and a personality.
Others feel that Ronaldo and Messi, now in their twilight years and on the verge of retirement, deserve more flowers with a spot on the cover (not their first). Behind Haaland in Polymarket’s prediction slate sits Harry Kane, the England frontman who has become the nation’s top World Cup goalscorer this tournament.
Kane’s Polymarket percentage sits at 37%, so he’s some way behind Mbappe, but still in a good spot overall.
