When Is The Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Coming Out?

In 2022, Bethesda Game Studios announced the Fallout 4 next-gen update, an overhaul to the 2015 post-apocalyptic title that will improve visuals, boost the frame rate, and bring fresh content to the game. Since it was teased by the developer, almost nothing concrete has been confirmed, and fans have been left out in the cold, wondering when the Fallout 4 next-gen update is coming out.

Fallout 4’s Next-Gen Update — When

In 2015, Fallout 4 emerged and took up the title of the best-selling Fallout game in history. It has sat at the top of the pile for almost a decade, even if many of the series’ fans believe that the earlier titles – such as New Vegas and Fallout 3 – are ‘better ‘games. It was indicative of the game’s staying power that Bethesda Game Studios was willing to reveal a next-gen update for Fallout 4 so long after release.

What is the Fallout 4 next-gen update?

From Bethesda’s website:

‘This free update includes native applications for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Performance mode and Quality mode settings, as well as stability improvements and fixes. Experience up to 60 FPS and increased resolutions!’

There will also be releases for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC players. There’s extra content, quality boosts, and stability fixes coming to the game.

It’s a Solid Time to Be a Fallout Fan

In April 2024, the Fallout TV show was released to an overwhelmingly positive reception. It pulled in stellar reviews and wowed audiences with its authenticity and superb storytelling. Not only that, but the Fallout series hit monumental milestones, had a collaboration with Magic: The Gathering, and Fallout 76 – the series’ multiplayer offering – had some sizeable updates.

Fortunately, those hanging around won’t have too long to wait – Bethesda Game Studios confirmed that the Fallout 4 next-gen update will be released on April 25, 2024. Isn’t that something?

  • Some of the best dlc!? Hardly close. Either 3 or NV have way more inclusive and fun dlc than 4. Love 4, enjoyed some of the dlc, but some are quite lacking and feel rushed. None are up to the pitt (3) or lonesome road (NV) quality.

  • I’ve been stalling for this update to start a fresh new fallout 4 game since they announced it almost a year ago. They really had us expecting it would be this year! I guess, as most Bethesda games go, we’ll have to just keep waiting…
