In a new post, WARDOGS CEO said GTA 6 had the chance to raise game prices but didn’t, and that games are too cheap compared to development costs.
The comment from Bulkhead’s CEO comes in response to Double Fine’s Tim Schafer recently discussing not understanding the economics of making games, and why there are layoffs when eventually the studios realize they need to make games and hire more people. The Bulkhead CEO chimed in with his thoughts on game pricing.
WARDOGS CEO Says GTA 6 Had a Chance to Increase Game Prices But Didn’t
Spotted by GamesRadar+, a reply from his X account (formerly Twitter), Bulkhead CEO and WARDOGS Executive Producer Joe Brammer talks about games being too cheap. Brammer says development costs are “too high” and games are too cheap. He added that GTA 6 “had a chance to raise the bar and they didn’t do it, so we’ll keep going round.”
Brammer goes on to talk about WARDOGS’s pricing, stating that he paid “£30 for a train journey one way” and the game costs “£36.99.” Brammer concludes, stating, “Let’s not pretend we don’t know why, guys like Tim should stand up and say “games need to cost more”, not act like we don’t know.”
