It has been suggested on social media that ‘select Walmart stores’ will be running a limited promotion to celebrate the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. Customers who pre-order GTA 6 online with Walmart and collect in-store will receive a ‘surprise and delight’ bag upon collection, but what’s in that bag hasn’t been revealed.
It’s hardly a reach to assume that one of the biggest retailers in the world will have scored some kind of special merchandise run with Rockstar Games to promote and honor the launch of GTA 6, of course.
Why Preorder GTA 6 with Walmart?
In a post on social media, it was claimed that Rockstar Games has joined forces with Walmart to offer ‘surprise and delight’ bags to select customers who pre-order their copy of Grand Theft Auto 6 online with the retailer.
The mysterious packages will be available from November 12th, which is when customers can pick up their copy of the game. That’s when GTA 6’s pre-load window opens up, and just because you can get your copy of the game from Walmart (and other retailers) doesn’t mean you can play it then.
After all, you’re picking up a code in a box. The game won’t go live until November 19th.
As for what’s in the surprise and delight package from Walmart, it could be almost anything. It could be a poster, an in-game map, a badge or a button, a keychain, or one of dozens of knick-knacks created to celebrate the launch.
I’ve pinged Walmart to see if I can learn more in the meantime.
