Two Cuphead Games Announced at Summer Games Fest

The world of Cuphead is back with two projects in development.

During the Summer Games Fest 2026 presentation, Studio MDHR announced two Cuphead titles in development. One is a sequel, and the other is an 8-bit adventure named Mighty Cuphead Adventure. Gameplay was briefly shown of the 8-bit game with a promise to show more when ready.

Cuphead’s Legacy Nearly a Decade Later

Released in 2017, Cuphead was a unique take on classic platforming, classic cartoons, and old-fashioned boss-rush video games. Don’t get it twisted: while its graphics make the game look like it’s for children and its old-timey aesthetic makes it seem like a fun breeze, the original game was known for its difficulty.

It would go on to spin off a Netflix series, and its final DLC, The Delicious Last Course, was released in 2022. The forthcoming 8-bit title looks like a tribute to classic Mario games while aiming to hold players over until the next course in the franchise releases. More information will be shared when the studio is ready.
