2026 marks 40 years since The Legend of Zelda first graced us with its iconic presence back in 1986. Nintendo has had one of the most special video game franchises under its belt for four decades, and leaks have revealed how the company intends to celebrate the series.
Majora’s Mask, A Link to the Past, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom; it’s almost unfair for one franchise to have so many game of a lifetime entries.
This year, Ocarina of Time is receiving a special remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, but Nintendo isn’t stopping there with Zelda.
Special Edition Zelda Pro Controller and Nintendo Switch 2 Revealed
Rumblings of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary plans first came to the fore earlier this year, when a Zelda-themed Switch 2 console made the news.
This looks to be real, and Editor-in-Chief of Universo Nintendo, @necrolipe, has shared the designs of said console and a special Pro controller on X.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller leak shows a glorious golf Triforce symbol in the middle, with intertwining triangles, and a black and green finish on either handle.
Translated from Portuguese, according to X, they said: “YES, exactly as I saw it previously.”
Whereas the Switch 2 console and charging stand favor a similar design, particularly the device itself, but the stand is a hybrid black and gold pattern.
Both pictures show unboxed hardware and appear very genuine and authentic.
If they are official, you’d probably expect Nintendo to officially unveil them at an upcoming Direct before Ocarina of Time is out.
