WARDOGS Launching In Early Access In September Following Successful Closed Test

BULKHEAD and Team 17 have announced that WARDOGS, a large-scale first-person shooter akin to Battlefield, is dropping into early access on September 10, 2026. It’s launching on Steam following a hugely successful closed test, and later this month, a closed beta will run from August 21 – 23.

WARDOGS has proven to be a rampant success thus far for BULKHEAD, generating almost one million wishlists as the developer has worked side-by-side with the community to develop an immensely promising shooter.

WARDOGS Coming Sooner Than Expected

In a post on social media, the team at BULKHEAD revealed that there’s less than a month before WARDOGS launches in early access on Steam. It’s a monumental thing, given the sentiment surrounding the tests that just wrapped, from everyday gamers and content creators alike.

For now, you can pre-order the game, a concept that might sound strange to some, given that it’s launching into early access.

Joe Brammer, BULKHEAD’s CEO, said:

Taking pre-orders for an Early Access game is unusual, and we know some people will question it, but WARDOGS has never been about playing it safe.

Rather than asking players to take our word for it, every pre-order includes access to the Closed Beta, so they can get hands-on, see exactly where the game is today and make up their own minds. If they play it and decide it is not for them, that is completely fair.

When it lands in early access, WARDOGS will run with a price tag of $39.99, a lower price point compared to the game’s planned full release, which will launch alongside a wholely delivered roadmap.

BULKHEAD has promised that there will be no in-game monetization elements during the game’s early access stage, aside from a ‘Supporters Edition’ that comes with some additional cosmetic items.

WARDOGS is one of the most anticipated first-person shooters in a hot minute. It features tactical gunplay on large-scale maps, charging three teams (totalling 100 players) with fighting to carve out their corner of each match, racking up cash and using that money to upgrade their equipment and call in vehicles and other boosts.

For fans of games like Hell Let Loose and Battlefield, WARDOGS is a no-brainer.
