It’s tough shifting your attention away from the Terminids, which are so much fun to fight, to help the community tackle a Major Order against the Automatons. The Best Weapons for Automatons in Helldivers 2
You can only carry two weapons: a primary and secondary. As such, I recommend equipping yourself with:
- PLAS-1 Scorcher
- P-19 Redeemer
Personally, I use the Redeemer whether I’m fighting Terminids or Automatons. The high rate of fire can save your skin in a pinch. But if you switch to semi, it hits hard and conserves ammunition.
As for the Scorcher, it’s ideal for taking down most of the Automaton units at mid-range. Ideally, you’ll use an Autocannon or Orbital Laser to deal with more robust Automatons, as the Scorcher proves effective at lightly-armored targets, and occasionally medium armor units, but ineffective against Devastators.

Which Stratagems to Bring Against Automatons
As you only have four slots for Stratagems in Helldivers 2, you must think strategically about which to bring depending on the type of mission and environment. Against the Automatons, I recommend:
- Eagle 500kg Bomb
- Orbital Laser
- AC-8 Autocannon
- A/G-18 Gatling Sentry
You could swap out the Gatling Sentry for the Autocannon Sentry but it feels like overkill considering you’re carring the Autocannon on your back. It’ll make short work of hulking mechs, and you can even destroy an outpost.
As for the Eagle 500kg Bomb and Orbital Laser, it’s always nice to have a bit of diversity. The bomb will detonate in a large radius, taking with it most Automaton units and structures. The Orbital Laser, on the other hand, provides much-needed backup and fire support in the field.
