A major shakeup at Telltale Games has been confirmed as the studio behind The Wolf Among Us 2 and the recently released The Expanse has laid off “most of” its employees.
The news of yet another set of mass layoffs comes via a, now, former cinematic artist Jonah Huang.
“This is a sore subject, but I feel it necessary to add to the gaming layoff news: Telltale laid most of us off early September,” he said while also making it known he can’t talk about the state of The Wolf Among Us 2 because of an NDA.
He added that the layoffs came just “weeks” after Telltale Games acquired UK-based studio Flavourworks.
In response to the claims of “most of” the staff being let go, Telltale put out a public statement. However, it didn’t detail the number of employees let go.
“Due to current market conditions, we regrettably had to let some of our Telltale team go recently,” Telltale said in a statement. “We did not take this action lightly, and our commitment to storytelling and finding new ways to do so remains the same.
“We are grateful to everyone for their dedication along this journey, and we are working to support everyone impacted. All projects currently in development are still in production, and we have no further updates at this time.”
Insider Gaming has reached out to Telltale Games for more clarification on the state of the layoffs and how many employees were let go. As of publishing, a response hasn’t been received.
This happened to the original Telltale. Did they make any games? I assume WAU will be cancelled this game took way too long.
