EXCLUSIVE – Dead Island 2 Neighborhood Watch Gamemode Details

Dead Island 2 finally got its release in April 2023 following countless delays over its decade-long development, but as updates since launch are few and far between, what exactly is Dambuster Studios working on with Dead Island 2? Here’s everything we know about Neighborhood Watch.

Officially, we know that two brand-new story expansions are on the way – Haus and SOLA Festival. These two-story expansions are set to release in the next 12 months, with Haus targeting a Q4 2023 release and SOLA Festival targeting Q2 2024.

Insider Gaming has also learned of a new experience coming to Dead Island 2, too, named the Neighborhood Watch. Granted, at this moment we’re unsure if the Neighborhood Watch is a part of the Haus expansion or not, but they are two completely separate gameplay experiences.

What is Dead Island 2 Neighborhood Watch?

The Neighborhood Watch is a new experience coming to Dead Island 2, which will see three players tasked with preparing for an impending horde of zombies that are going to attack your safe house.

The premise of the mode is simple, over five in-game days, you must prepare your defense by setting traps, finding and earning weapons, scavenging for supplies, and more. To earn these items, players are given a series of different objectives each day that they can pick from, which will range in difficulty from 1 to 5 stars.

Objective Rewards

  • Traps
  • Melee Weapons
  • Ranged Weapons
  • The ability to remove one type of zombie from the impending horde

Despite the objectives ranging in difficulty, they will progressively increase in difficulty no matter what throughout the duration of the five days (lore-wise, presumably the zombies are closing in). So players may pick a 1-2 star objective on day one, but by day three you’ll be completing 3-4 star objectives. If you want a more aggressive gaming session, then the player can just pick the 5-star missions straight away if they desire.

Sources revealed that the game mode can be very hectic, so make sure you have the right teammates heading into Neighborhood Watch!
