I need someone to validate that claim – is Team Vitality on the most dominant run in esports history? The squad has just claimed the top spot at IEM Dallas, beating MOUZ in a grand final that saw them refuse to drop a map. That came after an intense run that capped off a win streak comprised of thirty matches back-to-back-to-back.
In that marvellous win streak sits IEM Katowice, the ESL Pro League, a BLAST Open, IEM Melbourne, BLAST Rivals, and now IEM Dallas. Is this the most white-hot performance we’ve seen in recent esports history?
Generational Run
Team Vitality has enjoyed one of the most stunning years in the history of competitive gaming. The spree the squad has been on has secured them more than $2 million in prizes in just four months. Everything that has been up for grabs has been taken by Team Vitality, and it comes as no surprise to see the team winning IEM Dallas this weekend.
No team was able to take anything more than a single map off Team Vitality this time around, with MongolZ and Team Falcons getting the closest to giving Team Vitality a lick. The resilience was unparalleled, and the team pushed into the Playoffs without too many concerns, eliminating MOUZ to lift the trophy in a cakewalk of a 3 – 0 finish.
In a few days, Team Vitality will scoot to the other side of Texas to participate in the BLAST Austin Major, and once again, the squad is the favourite to win. IEM Cologne, one of the most important events in Counter-Strike esports, is on the horizon – will Team Vitality pull out back-to-back wins in the Cathedral of Counter-Strike?
I know which team my money is on for the foreseeable.
Who do you think will stop Team Vitality? Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum.
