In a post on social media, Indervir ‘iLLeY’ Dhaliwal has announced his retirement from the Call of Duty esports scene. This news comes after a rocky period that has seen iLLeY float around the Challengers space, bouncing between a few teams. His last spot in the Call of Duty League was with Seattle Surge, but that ended in April 2024.
As a former world champion, iLLeY has been around the block, despite only being 23 years of age at the point of retirement. He has flown the flag of Dallas Empire and OpTic Texas, also landing a couple of chips for his efforts.
Down and Out
The post from iLLeY on social media was fairly short and sweet:
I know this post is long over due, but I appreciate everyone that has supported me through out my career. With that being said I’ve officially retired from competitive call of duty. Just wanted to say I’m thankful for everyone I’ve met during this journey and the experiences it came with it.
From winning champs my first year to winning a chip for my dream org, not enough could be said how truly grateful I am for everything. With that being said, this is not the end. But the start of a new beginning
ILLeY made it big in 2020 when he won the inaugural Call of Duty League Championship with Dallas Empire. That organisation would go on to disappear after a couple of years, with an Envy x OpTic merger scrapping the Empire name and standing up OpTic Texas instead.
Unfortunately, iLLeY’s most notorious moment in recent years came from a sketchy interview at Major I of the CDL 2024 season. ILLeY was playing for Seattle Surge, and his post-match win interview was nothing short of bizarre, prompting many to voice concerns about the player’s condition.
