Recently, Escape from Tarkov players worldwide started getting to grips with a fearsome new boss called Scourge, who found his way into The Lab and started terrorizing everybody. The problem was, he was massively overtuned and was dropping people with 0.2 seconds of warning and pinpoint accuracy, which made the new event not very enjoyable.
To address this, Battlestate Games has released a balancing change alongside an extension of the event, pushing it out to October 26 and ensuring that Scourge isn’t as tough as he has been in the last few days.
Scourge Nerfed in Escape from Tarkov
Scourge is a violent sonofabitch introduced to Escape from Tarkov by Ref. He’s an ‘arena champion’ with a grudge, and he has broken into The Lab along with his cronies to make your life a living hell. In the last few days, clips have surfaced all over social media showcasing Scourge’s indomitable combat abilities (read: ridiculous OP skillz).
Fortunately, Battlestate Games has recognized how impossible it is to defeat Scourge and rolled out a small update:
- Reduced health of all body parts
- Decreased field of view
- Increased spread when firing at a distance
- Reduced enemy detection speed
Also, a new achievement has been added for those participating in the new event task line. Fear not, if you’ve already done the event, you’ll have that achievement automatically unlocked.
In recent months, Escape from Tarkov has been walking a fine line between getting easier and getting tougher. The introduction of characters like Wedge and Scourge has pushed players to the limit, and even the easy-as-pie PvE platform underwent a major change recently that has made it a bit of a misery to explore.
Put simply, AI PMCs are no longer a walk in the park, and they’re now coded to represent Chad players as much as possible when they’re at a higher level.
But at the same time, elements like the new GPS feature are coming to make it easier for new players to get to grips with things.
