Battlestate Games has lifted the lid on the impending ICEBREAKER event, one of the most anticipated Tarkov gameplay events in recent memory. It’s set to introduce a new map, of the same name, as well as a new boss, a storyline, and much more.
During the recent TarkovTV showcase, Nikita Buyanov revealed that ICEBREAKER is coming this month. The team showed a teaser for the event and the new location, and explained a little about what’s coming as part of the event.
Tarkov’s ICEBREAKER Map is Opening Soon
Escape from Tarkov’s next major map, ICEBREAKER, will arrive within the next three weeks, Battlestate Games has revealed. This month’s massive update will herald the arrival of the map, which is built around a nuclear-powered icebreaker ship away from the city of Tarkov.
It was described as a ‘massive map’ by Buyanov, who also walked us through everything else coming in the update.
There’s a mysterious new boss character, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, as well as new extraction mechanics and new gameplay features. In the short teaser that the team showed, we saw elements like players physically typing codes into keypads to get through locked doors, suggesting that some will have dynamic entry requirements rather than static keys or keycards.
It was also confirmed that ICEBREAKER will be a permanent addition to Escape from Tarkov and will be accessible after the event that introduces the environment. This means players will be free to head to ICEBREAKER, access requirements pending, to explore the map after it arrives this month.
