Battlestate Games has deployed the 0.5.0 update across Escape from Tarkov: Arena. This session-based, hardcore shooter is the traditional multiplayer portion of the extraction shooter’s universe, offering fast-paced, small-form action over the expansive, open adventures found in Escape from Tarkov, the core platform.
The 0.5.0.0 update in EFT: Arena represents a massive overhaul to the game’s ecosystem. It adds an entirely new battle pass, new maps, refined modes, fresh weapons, hundreds of rewards, and much more.
EFT: Arena’s 0.5.0.0 Patch is Enormous
Escape from Tarkov: Arena doesn’t have the pull that the core platform does, but it’s still a nice supplementary title, especially for those already loving Escape from Tarkov. The team at Battlestate Games has linked the two games together in a few ways, which means what you do in Arena can benefit your ‘main character’ in Escape from Tarkov.
Recently, the team rolled out the Casus Belli event, designed to cross the wires between the two games, and it was a pretty big success.
In the most recent Escape from Tarkov: Arena patch notes for the 0.5.0 update, we get a look at just how gargantuan this change is.
It starts with the new battle pass, also named Casus Belli. This features more than 70 unique rewards, including weapon skins, new sights and attachments, fresh clothing, and full gear sets for players to unlock and use as they grind the levels.
Factory has been introduced to Escape from Tarkov: Arena as a new tactical map. It has a unique voiceover, courtesy of Tagilla, but to access the map, which includes new points of interest and exclusive rewards, you’ll need to buy it on the Escape from Tarkov website.
ShootOut has been reworked and brought back for this new season in EFT: Arena. This is a mini-tournament mode that offers fast-paced action among six teams of two players each. It has been fully redesigned and improved for the 0.5.0 patch.
Additionally, EFT: Arena gets several audio changes, including cutting down gunshot audio and the range of certain impact sounds.
To further flesh out the platform, Battlestate has introduced a massive 46-part task line in EFT: Arena. The first tier of this is designed to help beginners understand the game, while the Advanced and Hardcore levels provide missions for the more talented players in the Arena.
Here are all the new weapons added to EFT: Arena with this patch:
- Colt M16A1
- Colt M16A2 (in the Mk12 Mod 0 marksman rifle preset variant)
- CGNL NL545 (DI)
- CGNL NL545 (GP)
- AK-308
- AS VAL MOD.4
- Marlin MXLR
- KAC SR-25 (Taupe) (in M110 preset variants)
- TheAKGuy AK-50
- TKPD carbine
This list is in addition to dozens of armor items, attachments, and other pieces of equipment, all brought over from Escape from Tarkov to bolster the offering in EFT: Arena.
But that’s still not everything.
Meta score has been rebalanced, starter presets have been adjusted, weapon and attachments progression has been overhauled, unpopular locations in certain modes have been disabled from the map pool, deeper customization options have been added, and, of course, the game has now transitioned to Unity 6.
That means the team has:
- Improved performance and overall client stability.
- Fixed several issues from the previous Unity version.
- Unlocked potential for further performance optimization and graphical improvements.
Before we wrap, here’s what we mean by the Meta score element:
With Patch 0.5.0, we are introducing experimental changes to the Meta score limits. Previously, the limits of each of the four bars had to be considered when assembling a valid preset, helping maintain balance and variety in EFT: Arena. At the same time, the system felt overloaded, especially for new players.
We are temporarily removing restrictions for three Meta score bars: Firepower, Defense, and Utility. This will give players complete freedom in building presets, but may result in unbalanced “meme” builds appearing in matches.
