Take-Two CEO Talks About Not Announcing GTA 6 On PC

GTA 6 PC

When Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 was revealed in December, players immediately noticed that the game was only announced for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The lack of a PC release at launch frustrated many who will have waited 12 years since the game’s initial launch on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 by the time GTA 6 releases. Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive is now addressing the decision not to announce GTA 6 for PC.

During a talk at the TD Cowen conference on May 30, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the lack of a PC announcement for the game (around the six-minute mark), and whether that was a firm decision.

“Well, the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone,” he told those on the conference call.”

He continued: “But Rockstar has an approach to platforms which we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due time. I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.”

There wasn’t a follow-up on the topic as the conference call moved forward with other business questions for Zelnick. That said, his comments surely opened the door to hope that GTA 6 will be released on PC. However, how close to the initial release remains to be seen. GTA 5 didn’t come to PC until nearly two years after its initial release. The studio’s most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2, wasn’t released on PC until a year after its console release.

GTA 6 is set to release in Fall 2025.

    1. u know people gonna pirate thst shet as soon as it releases on pc and that’s a loss.people gonna buy consoles like candies just for this game only it’s a business decision and pretty good one i would say.

  1. “Opens the door?”

We all know it will come out on PC later.
Like it always does with Rockstar.

  2. They are just double dipping to get people to buy it on console then release it on PC so they can buy it for the system they wanted to play it on in the first place, this is nothing new.

  3. Seriously at the rate Rockstar is going, I’ll be dead before GTA 6 is released to the PC.

They’re going to release it on consoles first like they always did (with the exception of the first GTA games on PC) as this drums up console sales (someone’s getting a kickback per console sold probably), then when those sales dwindle down, magically release it for the PC to scoop up the majority of your consumers who have stuck by the series since it’s inception.

Leaving the PC users to last is nothing new.

  4. The game will be delayed to 2026 or 2027 the industry is in a very bad place right now because of bad leadership.
