During the Summer Game Fest showcase, Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, an all-new standalone title in the universe that debuted with 2024’s Stellar Blade. However, the sensational unveiling of the new game was quickly marred by vocal fans complaining that the new game’s protagonist, Evie, is either a downgrade or looks far too young to be believable.
The comments haven’t been officially addressed, but it’s worth stressing that the first game’s protagonist, Eve, also looked remarkably young when she was first revealed, eventually being shaped into a more mature character with a more ambitious model.
Is Stellar Blade’s Evie Too Young?
One of the most appreciated trailers during this weekend’s Summer Game Fest broadcast was Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. This all-new reveal had fans chomping at the bit, expanding on a universe that first turned heads with the opening game in 2024.
Of course, a lot of the buzz around Stellar Blade came from the existence of the game’s shapely, attractive, and not-afraid-to-flaunt-it main character, known simply as Eve. Shift Up wasted no time in creating dozens of hyper-revealing outfits for Eve, adding a photomode and allowing players to run wild with Eve’s character model.
It landed the team in hot water at one point when they unassumingly reposted NSFW Stellar Blade content in full view of the public eye on Twitter.
Now, with the reveal of Blood Rain, fans of the post-apocalyptic action title have started pulling the new protagonist and the game’s setting to pieces. This time around, we’re assuming control of an angel named Evie, a more lithe, petite, and young-looking character who is, at first glance, a world away from Eve.
I mean, the animations and physics are still there, as are the suggestive, skin-tight outfits, but fans of the first game have taken an issue with just how young and ‘boyish’ Evie looks. It’s easy to see why, as this was one of the first glimpses we had of Evie:

In the trailer (which you can see below), we do learn how powerful Evie is, wielding impressive gauntlets that give her phenomenal hand-to-hand combat abilities. She might be smaller in size than Eve, but she has just as much potential as a warrior in a world that looks war-torn and fractured.
But here’s a comparison, as this is what Eve looked like before and after she was redesigned for the first game, which was released by Shift Up on PlayStation 5 in 2024:

On social media, one user stated that Evie looks like ‘a Korean child’, while another pulled up other images of Evie and stressed that different angles make her look much older, such as this more dramatic shot:

Another user stayed mixed on the topic, writing, ‘The other angles are fairer on her age, but this one looks real childish.’
And of course, some took a more nefarious tact in the discussion: ‘If I found this picture on someone’s hard drive, I would seriously think about reporting them to the authorities.’
There’s no shortage of quips on the topic, and there are plenty of users taking their angles and directly comparing elements of the two characters. One prevalent thing is literally a side-by-side comparison of both Evie and Eve from the perspective of their rears and the size of their breasts.
Gamers.
