Everyone is waiting patiently (and some not so patiently) for the inevitable Fallout 3 remaster. It’s supposed to be coming at some point and might even be revealed or teased during the upcoming XBOX Games Showcase, potentially even alongside a Fallout: New Vegas remaster or remake.
For now, other projects and content injections will need to keep fans satisfied. In a video uploaded recently by one ambitious and mod-savvy creator, we get a look at several minutes of ‘Fallout 3 Remastered’, as it would look if it were brought back to life in Unreal Engine.

Fallout 3 Remastered Video Surfaces Online

Now, I know it’s not the Fallout 3 Remastered, but it’s a Fallout 3 Remastered, and as a die-hard fan, that’s more than enough for me to get excited. I’m a huge advocate for fan-made creations, and whether it’s a short film or a full conversion mod, I’ll happily lap up everything these intelligent creators have to offer.
Recently, a YouTuber by the name of Julian Uccetta uploaded a seven-minute video titled Fallout 3: Unreal – Remastered in Unreal Engine 5, and it’s stunning to behold. From an upgraded UI to better physics, and from clean textures to deeper small details, the effort to create a grassroots remaster is tangible.
Here’s the full video for your enjoyment:
In the description under the video, Uccetta wrote:
This is a very early, very buggy playtest of a full port (and remaster) of Fallout 3 in Unreal Engine 5.7. This was entirely built using a plugin system I am currently working on called ‘Gamebryo Unreal’ which will allow any old Gamebryo Bethesda title from Morrowind to Fallout: New Vegas (and eventually Skyrim: LE and Fallout 4) to easily be ported to Unreal Engine by simply opening the project and selecting the location of the games data.
It was explained that the early development build had ‘a lot of other software running behind it’, which was reflected in some performance issues called out by some early viewers.

What’s more exciting is that fans eager to get their hands on Fallout 3: Unreal can do so right now, as Uccetta has made early test versions available on his Ko-Fi page.
