A new announcement confirms that State of Decay 3 is still coming to Game Pass after Undead Labs announced its separation from XBOX.
A new announcement has been made by XBOX regarding layoffs and the reorganization of its studios. The post also revealed that Undead Labs has transitioned into an independent, employee-owned game development studio, and its plans for the upcoming title, State of Decay 3, remain unchanged.
State of Decay 3 Still Coming to XBOX Game Pass After Separation
Undead Labs has announced through a post on their website that State of Decay 3 is still actively being developed, with a launch window targeting 2027. The game is currently in its alpha phase and is making steady progress towards entering closed beta by the end of this year. It is expected to release on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Game Pass next year.
Before the separation, Undead Labs and Microsoft had been in a partnership that lasted for more than 15 years. The first game in the State of Decay series launched in 2013 in a partnership with Microsoft, and the company went on to acquire Undead Labs in 2018. 8 years later, the two have decided to part ways.
About State of Decay 3
In the upcoming game, players will assume the role of a community of survivors working to build settlements and fend off zombies in a world set years after an initial outbreak nearly wiped out humanity. A new threat looms as the Equilibrium has been disrupted, leading to an evolution of zombies. Story mode strongly emphasizes player choices, including where to settle, what to build, and whom to recruit into the community. Additionally, permadeath is always on for your community, making each choice significant.
