Star Wars Battlefront 2 is back and has seen its highest concurrent player count in over four years on Steam.
It’s not entirely clear on why Battlefront 2 has once again surged in popularity, but recently content creators have been uploading more and more videos on the game and streaming it more often.
At the time of writing, the game currently has 9777 peak concurrent players in the past 24 hours, a number not seen on Steam for well over 4 years. The game came to Steam in June 2020 and after a peak concurrent player count of 10,489 in January 2021, the game stayed relatively consistent at 2-5000 concurrent players per day.
A video from content creator JackFrags is what recently drew my attention to the games resurgence in players, with Jack believing that the game has seen an increase because of a recent Steam sale, May 4th, and the success of Andor Season 2.
But after watching the video, I’m more inclined to believe people have gone back to the game simply because it looks great. For a game released in 2017, it still holds up incredibly well today. You can see for yourself in Jack’s latest video:
As for the rumours of a Battlefront 3, well, last I heard was that it likely was never going to happen. Even if approved, who would develop it? DICE’s (and a whole boat load of EA studios) are now all-in of Battlefield. Could Respawn Entertainment take it on as Apex Legends seemingly windles down? Who knows.
Nonetheless, let me know over on the Insider Gaming forum about what you think of Battlefront 2 and its recent insurgence in player count.
