Ubisoft is Once Again Ramping Up Hiring For The Splinter Cell Remake

Splinter Cell fans have been on an emotional rollercoaster since the remake was announced in 2021, with only sporadic rumors about what is happening with the project at Ubisoft Toronto. Since Splinter Cell Remake was announced, Ubisoft has had many layoffs, studio closures, and restructurings, and time and again, questions have been raised about its development.

While Insider Gaming has confidently reported that the game is still in development, new job listings for it have been posted, giving some public credence to our reporting.

Splinter Cell Remake is Still in Development

Job listings spotted by Insider Gaming show the game is still in development, and the job descriptions reveal a few tidbits about its scale.

One of the Producer’s responsibilities mentions, “Take part in recruitment to build your team + foster the professional growth and career progression of its talents.” Moreover, Ubisoft has posted at least three hiring posts for the Splinter Cell Remake in the past few months, with two in the last 2 weeks alone.

The Team Lead Level Designer position also lists one key responsibility: “Support onboarding and hiring efforts to help maintain team cohesion and effectiveness.”

So while there were reports of the layoffs affecting the game’s development, recent job listings could suggest that the game is once again making progress.

Another important point is that although a Producer is usually one of the key positions for a game and is hired early on, this one specifically mentions that the Producer must be “able to deliver their chunk of the game on time and in a supportive environment.” So no, this position doesn’t indicate that the overall remake is still far behind in development.

We have seen several leaks about the title, including some screenshots, but since they’re from 2024, it’s been hard to pinpoint how far along the project really is. Reports from July also suggested the game was in a fragile state, fueling the narrative that it might never see the light of day, but these job listings should at least bring some hope.

Insider Gaming’s 2024 report on Splinter Cell Remake highlighted this year as a target release window, but that has of course been internally delayed because of the constant issues that Ubisoft has faced. Late last year, Splinter Cell Remake’s director returned to Ubisoft to finish the game, and footage sent to Insider Gaming under the condition that it does not go public showed Irving Lambert speaking to Sam Fisher in a superb cinematic.

It’s possible that we could be getting more information on the Splinter Cell Remake sometime next year, but its release date is current,y unknown.
