Is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Coming to Xbox Game Pass?

As is the case with any big game just around the corner, the question is going to be asked: Is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds coming to Xbox Game Pass?

In times like these, when it is tough not to overspend on anything, you need to look at any possible way to save money. Game Pass is generally a good way to access newly available games, provided they are added to the service.

The blue blur and friends are ready to hit the tracks, but will Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds be coming to Xbox Game Pass?

No, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will not be on Xbox Game Pass, at least at launch.

As the game releases, it will cost $69.99 for the standard edition and $89.99 for the deluxe edition. Additionally, if you want to play online with friends, you will also need to be a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass Core, Standard, or Ultimate.

If you are iffy about purchasing Sonic Racing CrossWorlds at full-price, you can download a free single-player demo of the game so you can give it a try to see if you like it before purchasing.

If you do end up buying the game, you will get access to 23 base game characters, with more being added over time through free and paid DLC. Many of these newly added characters will be from outside of the Sonic universe, like SpongeBob, Pac-Man, and Steve from Minecraft. The game may have the Sonic name, but Sega is really going deep into the “CrossWorlds” of the title.

Will Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Ever Come to Xbox Game Pass?

There is no current expectation that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will ever be on Xbox Game Pass.

Of course, there is always a chance that the game makes its way to the subscription service at some point in the future, but the odds of it happening are not great. While Xbox and Sega have teamed up regularly in the past for games in the Like a Dragon and Persona series, no Sonic the Hedgehog has actually been included in Game Pass, as of this writing.

As for why Sega keeps its top mascot off of Game Pass, but not the other great games, it likely comes down to money. Sonic is such a renowned name that people are likely to buy that game either for themselves or their kids. While Like a Dragon and Persona are both loved series as well, they just don’t have the same kind of reach to the general gaming audience.

Are you hopeful that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will one day come to Xbox Game Pass? Let us know in the comments or on the Insider Gaming forum.

If you feel like buying Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on a different console, the full game will be included on the Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge,  and you don’t have to expect it to be just a different version of Mario Kart.
