Sony recently held its latest State of Play event which showcased many of the top indie and third-party titles that we can expect to see over the coming months. This also happened on the same day as Nintendo held its Nintendo Direct presentation, which saw announcements including Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remastered is coming in early 2024, F-Zero getting its first new game in 19 years, and the final Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pack tracks and character will be coming soon.
During Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play event one of the biggest announcements was the reveal of the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC. Although not confirmed until now, the DLC has been expected ever since the game’s launch, with Capcom adding placeholder achievements to the game shortly after. Much like the Separate Ways DLC from the original Resident Evil 4, players will take control of Ada as they take a look at what the mysterious spy was doing during the events of Resident Evil 4 Remake. As Ada sporadically shows up throughout the course of the game, it is great to see the events and struggles she dealt with to get to those points and it helps fill in a lot of blanks.
Separate Ways will give us an insight into Ada’s relationship with Luis. His backstory and personality were greatly expanded upon in Resident Evil 4 Remake when compared to the original, with it being revealed that he once worked for Umbrella, the pharmaceutical company that was the catalyst for the events of the entire series. Albert Wesker did make an appearance in the original Separate Ways, and his inclusion in the game could hint at Resident Evil 5 being the next game to receive the remake treatment.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways will launch on September 21, 2023, as paid DLC and will cost $9.99, along with a free update to the Mercenaries mode to add Ada and Albert Wesker to the game. It has also been confirmed that the VR version of Resident Evil 4 Remake will be a free update for PSVR2 owners.
