Has MachineGames Just Teased a New Quake?

Some eagle-eyed fans believe that MachineGames may have teased a new Quake game during the Xbox Developer Direct.

The potential tease appears for a couple of quick seconds during the Indiana Jones showcase. It was first spotted by ResetEra user JigglesBunny (thanks XboxEra), who posted a screenshot showing that the tease shows “AKE6” with the Quake logo below it written on a whiteboard. You can see it for yourself at the 44.44 timestamp from the official Xbox Developer Direct video.

While this could be entirely a coincidence, XboxEra does point out that they heard back in 2021 that a new Quake game is in development.

If true, the timeline from rumor to now could suggest that an announcement could be made in the near future as it’s likely now been in development for over three years. Back then, XboxEra co-host said that the game would have both single-player and multiplayer and have a female lead.

It’s worth noting that things can always change and this rumor is from three years ago, but the tease during the Indiana segment seems like a pretty obvious one in our opinion.

A Quake 2 remaster was released in Summer 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC at $9.99.

What do you think of a potential new Quake being in development? Let us know in the comments below.

  • I’d love this to be true, quake has been gone for so long and left a hole in my heart. But seriously who better than the team that masterfully brought back wolfenstein.. I would love it and if I am honest I am hoping and eagerly waiting for a wolfie part 3 to finish the series.
