We’re still a while away from the PS6, with plenty of life left in the current generation. However, we’ve already heard plenty of leaks and rumors about the new console, and now reports have been swirling that Sony is ready to delay the console’s launch.
You might have heard conflicting reports about the PS6‘s release. One minute, we’re hearing that the PS6 may be released as late as 2029, whereas industry insider KeplerL2 has stated the PS6 is set to release in 2027.
Kepler is the focus of our attention, as they have delivered some interesting updates on the PS6’s future.
‘No,’ is the Leaker’s Simple Response to PS6 Delay

In a NeoGAF thread discussing the PS6 being delayed, and that the console will launch in 2028 or 2029, KeplerL2 appeared with a familiar GIF—Frank Reynolds from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia shaking his head.
This is a clear indication that Kepler doesn’t believe the PS6 will be delayed, despite the PS6 launch window remaining uncertain amid memory prices.
He also liked another user’s post, which stated:
‘Delaying the console when it’s basically done doesn’t make any sense. They have TSMC contracts for the production of APUs, maybe even GDDR7 contracts with memory makers. R&D has cost them a few hundred million. PS5 sales are slowing down, and there is no guarantee that memory prices will drop between now and 2030. Releasing it in 2027, several million units sold before 2030, when memory price drops, you just lower price of the console and gain massive market share. Releasing it in 2030, no sales – 2030 memory prices could be lower the same or higher you start from scratch.’
If all this is true, we could see the PS6 next year! It will probably be another November launch, if this is the case, and it would be the next leap in gaming.
We’ll keep monitoring all leaks and reports concerning the PS6 and when we can expect to see or hear about it officially.
Until we hear more about the PS6, let’s enjoy the PS5, and one of its biggest games coming up is Marvel’s Wolverine!

Yeah it would cost even more also $1000+ console I’m telling you. PS6 will be the last PlayStation, Sony honestly may want to talk to Netflix now to sell Sony Pictures off to try and bankroll this thing. More studio closures on the way they had more before Marathon and Saros now even more will come.
The thing about delaying these next gen consoles… Helix and the PS6…. Is that if they delay them, the specs for the consoles are going to be that much more dated.
Take the Steam Machine as an example… Well just think if the Steam Machine would have decided to delay another year… Then came out with the PC console thing at like $750 instead of $1050…. That sounds like a good idea at first, but then you think about how the Helix and PS6 are launching right around the same time… Even if the Helix was double the Steam Machine at $1,500… I feel like it would sell way better than the Steam Machine. It will have the same easy to use console like UI, as well as being a PC that would have four times the power of the Steam Machine,
The main part about this that doesn’t really work comparing the Steam Machine with the future consoles, is that Steam already came out and showed the full specs of the thing in detail. So they were kind of stuck at launching that exact PC. Helix and PS6 still can and possibly will change their specs for the consoles. I hope Helix doesn’t, because with the PC capability, it really does sound like a better Steam Machine, that can play every game because it wont be Linux and still be able to download the Steam store (which I am sure wont really be advertised but will still be capable of doing with a small amount of tinkering)
I believe Xbox will put out there next console next holiday, because they are already over the Series consoles… But with the success of the PS5, I really don’t see them rushing to put the PS6 out with hardware components being so damn crazy in price as well.
What is apparent to me, is that next gen is going to be so damn cross gen, that the actual need for a PS5 or Series X owner to get a gen 10 console is going to be very small compared to all the gens before it. I think there will be very few games that are actually exclusives for next gen for a while..
Also, if Xbox is really going to be a lot more powerful than the PS6… are there still going to be contracts that make every game still be made in parity to the Sony console…. That has been why games have always looked damn near the same for both brands
@Uhkh
Yeah I think there are a few studios that we will be hearing about major playoffs or straight up closed from in the next few weeks….
Bend Studio. probably closed, they already had lay offs last years
Bungie, we are hearing half the studio, so 400 people (that is nuts)
Media Molecule, yes we did hear rumors of a new game being developed, but it has been so damn long since they have brought in any money for Sony,,, they gotta be on the chipping block.
And House Marque. Saros. Straight up one word needed, It flopped hard. And now that it is out, they are in the stage of development where they have to ask PS execs to green light something as well as ask for a shit load of money and tome before they will potentially be able to get them any profit in return, this is the time we see a lot of studios get cut for this exact reason.
A mixture of these studios are going to be getting some bad news soon. It is funny how you only hear about Xbox throwing the axe at studios since the June showcases…. It is like Sony fans really think that Saros and Marathon actually haven’t been huge financial loses (Bungie in general has never been profitable, and didn’t end up being the big helping hand in the live service aspect of game development that they were supposed to be dfor Sony… So now that Marathon is a bust, I would say that not only has Bungie not been a better acquisition than ABK for Xbox LoL (Jim Ryan quote) but all in all might be one of the worst acquisitions that Sony has ever made. Even worse than Blue Point who literally just got paid from Sony for a few years and never released a game before getting closed by Sony. They didn’t cost them billions at least.
