In recent years, video games have become a popular medium to promote other entertainment brands, particularly when it comes to the Battle Royale genre. Fortnite has seen collaborations with the likes of Marvel and Star Wars, and Call of Duty with music icons including Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj. Now, Respawn Entertainment is gearing up for its latest Apex Legends event, which is a collaboration with popular rapper Post Malone, the first of potentially many pop-culture crossovers.
Post Malone has been connected to gaming for a long time, with him and fellow rapper Lil Yachty being among the first celebrities to livestream on Twitch in 2017. The rapper is also an avid fan of first-person shooter games such as Call of Duty and battle royales, making him a perfect choice for the next Apex Legends event, a game he has publicly praised over the years.
In a post on X, Post Malone surprised fans with the announcement that he will be taking part in an event in Apex Legends on November 7. The video shows Post Malone lying on the floor asking “Can someone res me?” He also accompanied the video with the caption “Get ready for two weeks of beautiful mayhem.”
There is no news as to what Respawn Entertainment has in store for the collaboration, whether it is an in-game concert similar to what stars such as Travis Scott and Ariana Grande have done in Fortnite, or whether Post Malone will be receiving his own skin in the game.
Post Malone recently released his fifth album ‘Austin’ in July with the songs being streamed over 750 million times on Spotify already. The album peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 and number 3 on the UK Albums chart.
