The Pokémon Company has announced that connectivity between Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green and Pokémon Home is on the horizon, with a new reward for completing the Pokédex.
Nintendo Switch ports of FireRed and LeafGreen were released on February 27 this year, coming alongside celebrations of the franchise’s 30th anniversary, but some aspects of the game were limited.
As is customary with most Pokémon releases, connectivity to Pokémon Home was not available initially, but that is changing in just a few months time.
FireRed & LeafGreen Connectivity Coming to Pokémon Home
In an announcement revealing the 4.1.0 version of Pokémon Home, coming in October 2026, it was revealed that connectivity with FireRed and LeafGreen would be enabled, allowing players to transfer Pokémon from the games into the Pokémon Home storage system.
Additionally, players who complete the Pokédex in FireRed or LeafGreen will be rewarded with Celebi on the mobile version of Pokémon Home, and you won’t need to transfer a Pokémon from the game into Home, unlike other titles.
Instead, once Pokémon Home is connected, a registered Pokémon in FireRed or LeafGreen will automatically be registered in Pokémon Home.

This is a significant feature, as it’s stated that Pokémon transferred out of FireRed or LeafGreen cannot be transferred back into the game, nor can Pokémon in Pokémon Home be transferred into the aforementioned titles.
Additionally, the 4.1.0 Pokémon Home update increases the maximum storage amount for players with a Premium Plan to 9,000 Pokémon, up from 6,000, and the price of the Premium Plan is not changing.
Meanwhile, Pokémon caught in a Safari Ball in Pokémon Go will be able to be transferred into Pokémon Home, which will display the Pokémon’s ball as a “Strange Ball.”
