The Pokémon Company has announced a special announcement video revealing that the 30th anniversary TCG set will take place on June 1, after months of waiting.
An initial teaser for the anniversary set, celebrating three decades of the Pokémon TCG, was first shown during the Pokémon Day Presents showcase at the end of February, and it’s been a few months of quietly waiting ever since.
However, official confirmation of the reveal from Pokémon Japan has highlighted when the floodgates of information will open, although some leaks have already emerged.
Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary Set Revealed June 1st
A special announcement video will be shown on June 1st at 6 AM PT/8 AM CT/9 AM ET/2 PM BST, showcasing exactly what fans can expect, but some eye-catching details have already been shared.
Pokebeach, which correctly stated earlier this week that a full reveal of the set is coming next week, has reported that Japan’s 30th Celebration set will feature a Pikachu in every pack, with 30 total Pikachu cards to collect.
Cards will contain six cards, all of which will be foil, and are expected to showcase reprints of famous artwork and concepts from the past three decades, along with a new rarity of card that was first teased back on Pokémon Day.
The set is set to be released in Japan on Wednesday, September 16th, and will be released “simultaneously” worldwide, though the international release in the United States and United Kingdom is believed to be set for two days later, September 18th.
It remains to be seen whether the same logistics per pack will remain for the international set, but every card is likely to be a holo. However, we could see some cards lifted from the set to feature as promos, the same approach that is usually done for international releases compared to the Japanese version.
A slew of products are expected to be revealed, featuring the standard batch of Elite Trainer Boxes, Blister Packs, and more, while leaks have also shown that specific products featuring Umbreon and Espeon will be released in Japan.
